Whats New 04/09/01 New ways of printing selections are in development
|
Thank you for visiting the Screensearch Casting System - one of the most sophisticated casting systems available on line.
This has been in development for over 12 months and is the culmination of feedback received from many Assistant Directors with whom we have worked and to whom we are indebted for their input and suggestions.
The On lIne Casting System has been developed and optimised for use with the Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 5 or higher. Whilst it has been tested on Netscape Navigator Version 4.08 it does produce some odd screen presentations which we will address over the next few months. If you would like to provide us with some feedback then please do so by emailing us casting@screensearch.co.uk
Operation of the On Line Casting System has no impact on your machine as all the work is carried out on the server. Once you click the next button below you will be presented with the opening screen which invites you to start selecting from.
Simply click on one item to select from and click the button Next underneath - this will then refresh the screen and give you a further group of items to select from. The following example has selected Skills from the initial Category and Driving from Skills selection.
The final box at the bottom will be determined by the choices made in the first two - where there are items to selct from you will get a list and where input is required (eg. measurements) you will be invited to provide input. Where you have a list you can select one item by a simple mouse click or multiple items by holding down the CTRL button as you click. Our example is looking for someone who holds a licence for a moped or a car.
Clicking on the Add button then starts to build the selection and you can see the selection starting to build in the "Selection so far from" and "Criteria selected" boxes. You can now click on the Search button if you want to see how many people fulfill that criteria - our example shows 1376 people out of 2144 hold either a car or moped licence. You should get the response within 5-10 seconds depending on Internet conditions.
At this point you can then add to the selection by using any of the boxes to select from - you can then choose to search at any time - but make sure that your selections appear in the "Selection so far from" and "Criteria selected" boxes.
Once you have some results clicking on the Gallery button will bring up the gallery - here you may have to wait a short time depending on your connection speed whilst the pictures are downloaded - once downloaded they are readily available for any subsequent views.
From the Gallery screen you can:
view any of the people identified by a single left mouse click on the picture navigate to the next or previous page by clicking on Forward or Back navigate to a specific page by entering a number in the first page box and pressing the return button on your keyboard save your selection by clicking on the "Click to Save" link - this will create a link which will be emailed to you to enable you to return to this selection directly
You can close the windows by clicking the X in to top right hand corner.
You should now be able to start creating your own searches. However, things can and will go wrong and it is important that we know about it. If you get stuck with anything ring Ian Turner on 01444 440111 so that we can understand what is happening and improve the system as required. Also any links that fail or do not work properly need to be similarly reported.
