She is buried in the Cimetière du Grand Jas\n\nin Cannes (Alpes-Maritimes)\n\nBefore their marriage, Yvonne Vallée was Chevalier's music\n\nhall dancing partner.\n\nShe performed operetta often alongside Chevalier and was in\n\nthe ensemble for the Paris debut of Belle of New York.\n\nReportedly she met Chevalier in 1924 during his period of\n\ndepression on return to France from a failed venture in New York City; this\n\nculminated in attempted suicide, but things turned around for Chevalier and he\n\nmarried Vallée three years later.\n\nThe pair is featured in the photograph \"Réunion de\n\nstars du cinéma\" by Erich Salomon.\n\nVallée frequently performed alongside her husband, playing\n\nthe café proprietor's daughter (the love interest of her husband's character)\n\nin Le Petit Cafe, in the musical \"Playboy of Paris\", directed by\n\nLudwig Berger and singing in duo with him on the recording \"Dit's moi\n\nM'sieur Chevalier\".\n\nThe marriage lasted eight years, and they were\n\ndivorced on grounds of incompatibility.",
