Notably on July 10, 1974, \"The Canadian Statesman\" in Bowmanville reported: \"The first indefinite suspension was handed out to driver Art Robinson of Whitby, when he started using his fists on another driver after a mishap at the conclusion of the Diamond Class Division involving three cars.\" Eventually, hot-headed Art decided to become Westgate Speedway's owner in 1976. He continued racing in his 01 car as an owner-promoter. Canadian stunt performer Ken Carter had his untimely demise at Westgate Speedway in the fall of 1983. Westgate Speedway was renamed Peterborough Speedway (1988-present) aka Canada's Toughest 1/3 Mile Oval.",
