Fidel Castro, from the podium, congratulates the organizers, coaches, and competitors of these games. He alludes to the rain falling on Cuba, an allusion illustrated by images of farmers working in the fields. He lists the successes achieved by Cuban athletes at the Pre-Olympic Games in Mexico City. Castro announces the creation of a newspaper for young people to be titled “Juvendud rebelde”. He affirms the essential role of youth on the path to communism.
